This page describes, plainly, what this site actually does with data. It is not legal advice. There is no account, no login and no payment anywhere on this site.

The book download

The download link is on the page and works whether or not you fill in the form. If the form fails for any reason, the link still appears. The book is free and nothing is held back behind an email address.

The form, if you use it

If you submit the form you give an email address and, optionally, a first name. That is the only personal data this site collects, and only when you deliberately submit it. You can read every page here without submitting anything.

It is stored on my own server in Germany, in a small database I run myself. It is not held by a mailing list company, it is not sold, and it is not shared.

Alongside the address I record the time you submitted it, your IP address, your browser's identification string, and which version of the wording above you agreed to. That is the record of consent, kept because the law puts the burden of proving consent on me rather than on you. It is deleted when the address is deleted.

Confirming, and the one email

Submitting the form does not add you to anything. One email is sent asking you to confirm the address, and nothing further is ever sent unless you click the link in it. If you never click it, that one email is the only one you will ever receive from this site.

That single email is delivered by Resend, which handles the sending on my behalf and whose privacy policy governs what it does in transit. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Asking for a copy, or for deletion

Write to contact@thedevproject.io and I will send you a copy of everything held about you, or delete it, within 30 days. Deletion removes the address and its consent record entirely.

Analytics

There are none. This site measures nothing about your visit and loads no tracking script of any kind, from me or from anybody else. The only record that you were here is the web server's own access log, described next.

Server logs

The web server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs for every page request, and those logs do include the visitor's IP address. This is ordinary web server behaviour, and it exists for operating and securing the site, not for tracking individuals.

What this site does not do

There is no tracking script from an outside advertising or verification service on this site. There is no database of names or addresses tied to accounts, because there are no accounts. There is nothing here to enrol in and nobody is a student.

The section above covers the form. For anything else, including what is in the server access log, write to contact@thedevproject.io.

Changes to this page

I may update this page as the site changes. The version here always describes the site as it actually works today.
